First district fair for meb schools
Last June 14th our school was acknowledged for having the best public Bilingual Program in the District. Therefore, our school was selected to host the Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy, Greg Houston, the Trade and Education Attaché, Ellis Darkin, the Secretary of Quality and Relevance, Carlos Reveron, the Coordinator of the Second language District Plan, Martha Galvis, the Director of Science, Technology and Educational Media, Carol Mondragon and the Coordinator of the British Council Affiliated Schools’ Program, Carolina Cruz.
In this event students from preschool to 11th grade had the opportunity to show different cultural aspects of our country . At the end of his presentation, students could interact with him asking questions about him and his culture.
Besides, we thanked our former Principal, Ana Virginia Rodríguez de Salinas for all her commitment, love and contribution to our Bilingual Program and school. Furthermore, we welcomed our current principal José Antonio Archila to our Bilingual Community. That day, teamwork, commitment, friendship and lots of emotions emerged. We were very proud for all our efforts and we could show all our guests that Bilingual Education in Public schools is a dream come true!
Our school participated in the first district Fair for public schools that have a Bilingual Education Model in Bogota. It took place at the Grand Hyatt hotel on November 13th, 2018. This events was organized by the British Council and the Secretary of Education (SED) in order to show the advances that MEB schools have had regarding curriculum, pedagogical practices and bilingual environment, taking into account that each school has a different process in terms of categories, subjects taught in English, years of implementation, among others.
The Secretary of Education and the British Council highlighted how for the first time in the history of our city and country, this model benefits about 88.000 students from 16 public schools which are implementing a bilingual education model.
