CLILContent and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) training has been offered to all teachers involved in the program. These courses provided teachers with training in CLIL methodology and practical ideas so they can develop subject knowledge in L2. This training was led by from the British Council trainer Paula Urreña in 2017, in previous years teachers had also had other training on CLIL with the National University. | ACTIVE LEARNINGActive learning: A student centred approach training was held in October, 2017. The main purpose was to identify the principles of Active Learning, identify strategies to implement Active Learning in the classroom and design an activity to practice Active Learning in the bilingual classroom. This training was directed to teachers involved in the bilingual program. This training was led by Sandra Diaz from the British Council. |

ASSESSMENT FOR LEARNINGThis course was also led by Sandra Diaz, our academic consultant as a BC affiliated school. It was held in April, 2018. The main goals of this training were to reflect on assessment, understand the difference between assessment of learning, assessment for learning and assessment as learning. Besides, teachers learnt the five key strategies of assessment for learning, and analyze different assessment activities and techniques. | English for DAP teachersThis course was given to all DAP teachers who wanted to improve their English level in order to strengthen the bilingual process in the classroom. Besides, teachers had the opportunity to practice interaction among them. It was also a great opportunity to offer teachers tools and techniques for the development of L2 lessons by modeling different pedagogical strategies. In the morning the trainer was then bilingual leader, Gisell Mora and in the afternoon, the trainer was Marisol Lozano. |
STORY TELLING: DIGITAL JOURNALISM AND MULTIMEDIAThis training course was offered by the Ministry of Education. The goal of this training was to promote the use of English through journalism. It provided teachers with tools to apply a novel teaching scheme in classroom through storytelling and the construction of a digital communication medium. One of our bilingual leaders, Juan Ducuara, attended this training course in 2019 and implemented some strategies such as editing, photography, and production of digital content with tenth graders. | ELT MANAGEMENTThe English Language Teaching Management course provided leadership training for bilingual leaders, coordinators and principals of MEB schools. This program was part of the Second language district plan intended to strengthen leadership of managing roles in schools that were implementing a bilingual program. It was held by the British Council trainer Jorge Ramos. This training started in 2017 and ended in 2019 with then creation of BEMNET. |
DifferentiationThis training was held by the British Council trainer, María Paula Gonzalez in 2019. More than 50 teachers participated in this course. By the end of this training, teachers were able to recognize how teaching resources can help with differentiation in the classroom, consider how the differentiation can lead to the achievement of learning outcomes in different ways for different learners. Teachers designed a differentiated activity to put into practice in their classes. | COGNITVE CHALLENGECognitive Challenge and effective questions course was held by the British Council teacher training expert Sandra Diaz in our school in July, 2019. 50 teachers from both shifts participated and learnt different types of thinking, identified lower order and higher order thinking skills in teachers’ current practice. At the end of the training teachers designed an activity that aims at developing higher order thinking skills in subjects taught in English. |
Standardised testsThis training was held by a British trainer. Its main goal was to guide teachers in strategies for the assessment of standardized tests such as English Young Learners: Movers and others. The trainer provided teacher with samples, techniques and tools to grade and assess different tests and how each skill should be evaluated. This training was only directed to English teachers who are the responsible for the Institutional standardized tests. | PROJECT BASED LEARNINGThis training was offered by the Second Language District Plan and the Embassy of the United States of America. The main goal of this training was to provide teachers with strategies to apply Project-based learning in L2 subjects. It was held in August, 2019. In this occasion, our school hosted bilingual leaders and teachers from other MEB Schools. |
