British Council (Affiliated School)

DAP school becomes a British Council Affiliated School

In August, 2018, our school was awarded with a plaque that accredits us as a British Council Affiliated School. In this event participated Ricardo Romero, English director at the British council, Carolina Cruz and Christine, Schools Bilingual Education Consultants, Daniel Johnston, Young Learner Manager & Child Protection Coordinator, and other speakers who shared important aspects of being an affiliated school, the benefits and challenges to come. Ricardo Romero pointed out that it was an achievement of great value for us as a public school and we were an example of how we can reduce social inequality in our country. On the other hand, he highlighted that our school accomplished a series of important merits in our bilingual program that led us to be an affiliated school. Our school began to make part of the same group of work and excellence as private bilingual schools in Colombia which are affiliated to the British Council.

This acknowledgement has been possible thanks to the teamwork, commitment, training and organization of the bilingual project. Nowadays, the project goes in 8th grade where students have three subjects taught in the second language: English, Science, Math and Physical Education. Besides, students who are new or have difficulties at learning English have the opportunity to strengthen their communicative skills by attending the reinforcement program. Moreover, we have the English Fellowship Program in which students can learn and share with foreign volunteers. Furthermore, parents who want to learn and help their kids involved in the program can participate in the English Extension program. The main objective of the project is to help them develop communicative skills that will allow them to improve their quality of life.

The Bilingual team will keep on working enthusiastically and responsibly, as it has been doing for the last 8 years, in order to enrich the quality of education in our school and provide DAP students with skills to live and work successfully in a global society. which also will allow them to have better professional and job opportunities.
